Hi! Welcome to my blog. I am a mixed media artist who lives in McMinnville, Oregon. I work in acrylics, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and other water and drawing media. My main subjects are abstracts, abstract landscapes, florals and gardens, equine abstracts and pet portraits. I love to use color! I try to incorporate the three C's in all of my work - color, contrast and composition! Most of these paintings are for sale. Please check with me for availability and prices if not posted. Red Roses with Grapes and Peaches

This 16x20 floral still life is done in an informal style. The pastel and water soluble crayons are not blended as much to give a looser look. Pastels don't always have to be heavily blended to get an interesting result.

Purple and Yellow Green One

In this abstract landscape I tried to create a feeling of mountains in the background. Sometimes when I do these I don't have any literal object in mind. The "sky" is yellow green which I think compliments the purple and blue in the foreground. Watercolor with pastel on paper.

Blue Green with Poppies

Here is the first one of my new series of small 5X7 abstract landscapes with one or two dominant colors. This challenges me to get texture and contrast with the one color. Plus, I hope you can have fun grouping these together or with other color themes. Watercolor with pastel on paper.

Olive Green Pillars

Hey! I am back from our trip to Tennessee and Kentucky! We had a lot of fun at my husband's family reunion and then went up to Kentucky to see where my grandmother was born. Beautiful country and wonderful people! I am now back to work. This piece has a deliberate use of olive green with the blue and red and some pink. Usually I would lean toward a blue green or purer green with blue and pink, but I thought I'd try olive green without a lot of yellows and oranges. Let me know what you think. Soon I will be posting daily paintings. My goal is to create five 5X7 or similar sized abstract landscapes every week and post them for you to see. My new series will be with a dominate color in each - blues, browns, greens, yellows, purples, reds and more. I think it will be fun!

Dark Blue Bluff

This 8x10 abstract is done with watercolor and pastels. I love the look of blue and orange/bronze. Pastels are so bright and when they are framed under glass,  they are even brighter and sharper.  I will be out of town for a week. We are going to Tennessee and Kentucky and I can't wait to see the beautiful countryside. I will get inspiration for some new abstract landscapes!
