Nude Study, one, charcoal drawing by Carol Engles

16 x 24 charcoal on paper. This is a nude I did - over 35 years ago. I did this drawing and several other nudes during a life drawing class at the University of Washington after I graduated from the University of Oregon and was living in Seattle working at the Seattle Times. I enjoyed taking a variety of art classes even though my degree was in journalism. This particular class was so HARD. It was 3 hours in the evening and I was exhausted at the end of every class. I remember being especially terrified at the first class. It was so intimidating. I almost dropped the class. But, I decided to stick with it. We realized that we were ALL intimidated. The instructor encouraged us to work very fast and loose. I am going to offer prints of these drawings through Artspan. So stay tuned!
