Yellow Gold and Charcoal

17x23 watercolor with pastel and charcoal. I, once again, can't help myself when it comes to charcoal! I am so intrigued by the line and sketchy quality it produces. I am going to get some larger paper this week. I want to translate this loose, energetic style to a larger size and see what happens!

  1. Carol, I love your use of line in your new piece. The rhythm creates such a playful feel. The yellow draws me in! ~Jennifer

  2. Hi Jennifer, thanks for your comments. I am having so much fun with this "line thing"! When I studied art, we usually used charcoal in the traditional style of blending and smudging, which, of course, is wonderful . BUT, I am having more interesting results using it in a linear, sketchy way. I may post some life drawing pieces that I did as a student, just for fun to see what I did in class.
