Hi! Welcome to my blog. I am a mixed media artist who lives in Murrieta, California. I work in acrylics, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and other water and drawing media. My main subjects are abstracts, abstract landscapes, florals and gardens, equine abstracts and dog portraits. I love to use color! I try to incorporate the three C's in all of my work - color, contrast and composition! Most of these paintings are for sale. Please check with me for availability and prices if not posted. Crimson Field One, 19 x 23 acrylic and pastel painting on paper by Carol Engles

19 x 23 acrylic and pastel on paper. This is a larger version of a 5 x 7 I posted recently. This one has more of a crimson color than the smaller one. I like the contrast of the lime green with the red. Not my usual color combination, but I think it works nicely here. Tell me what you think. Both this painting and the small "inspiration" are available. Contact me if you're interested at: jcengles@verizon.net

Carol, this is really good - dramatic, rich darks with lovely light effects - the green and red are compliments so are a real eye popper. Nice work!

Thanks Melody! I usually use reds as accents, not as the dominate colors. So glad you like this. Your comments always mean a lot to me.
