Poppies Four

This is a 9x12 oil pastel. No soft pastels in this piece! I used to work with oil pastels a lot. I would mainly blend them, but now I prefer to use them in this manner - like crayons! They are not as bright or brilliant as soft pastels, in my opinion; but, they are rich and creamy, so I guess they have their own qualities that are appealing.

Thanks for your comments. Oil pastels can be fun. But, like I said, they aren't as brilliant as soft pastels. Plus, they can be tricky to work with. You have to be careful when you are layering them because they can get muddy.
