Abstract Quilt Three

15x19 mixed media on paper. I really like the brownish red or brick color in this piece. I try to come up with colors that I haven't used recently. I also tried to give this a lot of contrast with light and dark colors. Tell me what you think!

Rothko & Kandinsky all in one luscious package...
Like the slant of dark/light. Love the irregularities of rectangles in upper left; guards against monotony.
Like the block of purple, and dabs of blue in lower right to strengthen the punch & lead the eye.
Well done ~

Thanks DJ! I am honored that you see Rothko and Kandinsky influences in this. I am especially fond of Kandinsky. It was every important to me that this painting have contrast in both color as well as light and dark. Also, abstract, to me, has to have a solid composition on which to base everything else.

Yes, some people think that abstract is easy...NOT!
Your hard work is much appreciated...

I like the one before this one slightly more. I like Canyon rock seven too. Nice work.

I know nothing about abstract art... but I find this appealing visually... I like it very much.

Thanks to all of you for your comments. These really are a LABOR of love. I'm pretty wiped out today because I was out working with the horses in the heat, so I couldn't do one of these right now! Only when I am well rested! HA!
