About Me

McMinnville, OR, United States
Hi! Welcome to my blog. I am a mixed media artist who lives in McMinnville, Oregon. I work in acrylics, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and other water and drawing media. My main subjects are abstracts, abstract landscapes, florals and gardens, equine abstracts and pet portraits. I love to use color! I try to incorporate the three C's in all of my work - color, contrast and composition! Most of these paintings are for sale. Please check with me for availability and prices if not posted. Southwestscape Four by Carol Engles

5x7 water media with pastel on paper. This is another one with a Southwest theme. These are inspired by the Temecula Valley where I live. Hope you like them. They are restful for me to do. They aren't as demanding as my geometric abstracts that take more "brain" or imaginative thought to create. Does that make sense?

Copper and Black One

This is an 8x10 mixed media piece that my husband calls "Harley Davidson" colors. We don't ride bikes, we ride horses, but the colors are similar to their logo I guess! This piece and its companion piece are available at the Aaron Gallery in Washington D.C. Contact them at (202) 234-3311 if you're interested.

Turning for Home

This is a 10x14 mixed media piece that I created for the California Thoroughbred Farm Managers "Dine with the Stallions" fundraiser and dinner to be held tomorrow at Vessels Stallion Farm. I wanted it to look like the cover of a racing program! I am a proud member of this organization and I hope we can raise LOTS of money tomorrow for equine charities!

Blue Lagoon Three

This is a another lagoon painting. It is mixed media on paper. 8x10. I used indigo and Prussian blue - two of my favorite colors! I then imagined sea creatures and plants. I hope to do more of these in various sizes. They are fun to do.

Violet Lagoon

This is a 16x22 mixed media on paper. Wild, huh? I am enjoying doing these lagoons with imaginary sea creatures and plants. I am trying to keep them loose and fun. Let me know what you think. I always appreciate your comments.

Pink in the City Two

A light and airy 8x10 watercolor with pastel. This is supposed to be fun, loose and easy to be around!. Let me know if you're interested. I hope to do a series of these with the green and pink. They would look good grouped together, too.

Chartreuse and Purple One by Carol Engles

8x11 watercolor with pastel. I have lots of bright colors in this one. I worked this is in a loose, sketchy style. It is very easy to over work these and then you lose the crispness and line. If you're interested, please contact me. This is the first one with this color combination and composition. Hope you like it!

Caramels and Candies

8x10 watercolor with pastel on paper. This is another in my "Chocolate" series. I think of chocolates, caramels and candies and then I get to work. I don't really have much of a sweet tooth. But, I do enjoy dark chocolate. I also like going into the store and looking at chocolates and the candy - all the colors and textures. Contact me if you're interested. I have done several of these and plan to do more. They are so much fun! They would be nice hung in a kitchen or nook, don't you think?
