About Me

McMinnville, OR, United States
Hi! Welcome to my blog. I am a mixed media artist who lives in McMinnville, Oregon. I work in acrylics, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and other water and drawing media. My main subjects are abstracts, abstract landscapes, florals and gardens, equine abstracts and pet portraits. I love to use color! I try to incorporate the three C's in all of my work - color, contrast and composition! Most of these paintings are for sale. Please check with me for availability and prices if not posted. Bronze Marsh Two

10x14 water media with pastel and charcoal on paper. I wanted to create a marsh with water in the background. I also am having fun using a cool color - aqua with a warm color - bronze. I try to tie them together with the yellow gold and lavender. I like to use colors in ways you don't expect.

Aqua Vista Two

8x10 water media with pastel and charcoal on paper. This one is an abstract landscape that I hope conveys the impression of a horizon with cliffs and hills in a Southwestern style. Let me know what you think.

City Tower Three

8x10 watercolor with pastel and charcoal on paper. This piece is one of my "city" pieces. I hope to do more of these with a suggestion of a city at night with lights, streets, and structures.

Prussian Blue & Gold One

a 5x7 watercolor with pastel on paper. I like working with Prussian Blue. I could use it all the time - but that would get boring, I guess! If you like this small piece or if you would like a larger piece in these colors and style, let me know!

Winter Marsh One

This is a 10x14 water media with pastel on paper. I wanted to do another marsh painting in a minimalist style. I really like the mood that I get with these. I make them up out of my head. I am trying to portray a scene with a lot of distance and subtle colors with just a highlight of bright color for some "snap". These are also very relaxing for me to do. I think it must be the subject matter!

Aqua Vista One

8x10 watercolor with pastel and charcoal on paper. Aqua and Burnt Sienna are an interesting combination to me. I also added a bit of lavender for contrast. This piece comes matted and framed under glass with a light brown wood frame. Let me know if you're interested.

Red Violet One

This is a 8x10 watercolor with pastel and charcoal pencil. Time for bright colors! I love the brilliance of pastels. They pop off the paper! Especially when framed under glass. Hope you  like the colors in this piece.

Stormy Pink Field

This is a 10x14 watercolor with pastel. I think that grey skies can be contrasted by brighter pastels accents. I hope to use grey in my geometric abstracts as well. If I get really brave, I will try to do some work with shades of grey and then add one color. I usually have to use a lot of color, so that would be a good exercise for me.

Yellow & Rust Sky

This is an 8x10 watercolor with pastel. I added some aqua and pink as a surprise contrast. I think I am going to do some more pieces with this color combination. I am also working today with dark blue and green combinations. My theory on color is that it is OK to combine colors that aren't commonly used as long as there are base colors that hold the entire piece together.
