About Me

McMinnville, OR, United States
Hi! Welcome to my blog. I am a mixed media artist who lives in McMinnville, Oregon. I work in acrylics, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and other water and drawing media. My main subjects are abstracts, abstract landscapes, florals and gardens, equine abstracts and pet portraits. I love to use color! I try to incorporate the three C's in all of my work - color, contrast and composition! Most of these paintings are for sale. Please check with me for availability and prices if not posted. Aubergine Three

This is a 5x7 abstract with watercolor and pastel. "Aubergine" represents a combination of plum, purple, mauve and a hint of brown. It makes a nice color combination, don't you think?

Southwest Scape Sixth

This is a 5x7 abstract landscape with watercolor and pastel on paper. I plan to do a series of these Southwest color abstracts. This one has a grey sky which we sometimes  have  in the Southwest before a storm.

Brownscape Five

5x7 watercolor with pastel on paper. I love doing these! Lavender works as a nice accent with brown, don't you think? Sometimes you can overwork pastels, so I try to make an effort to keep them clean and simple, so the color comes through with a hint of subject and shape.

Pink Blocks

This is a 8x10 watercolor with pastel. This time I used softer, lighter pastels over watercolor. It is not as dark as some my other pieces. It is important for me to mix up not only the colors I use, but the depth of color and value. Tell me what you think.

Red Roses and Green Vase

This is a 5x7 done with watercolor, water soluble crayons and ink. I like to do commissioned work of bouquets and gardens. So if you have a photo of a special bouquet or arrangement and would like a painting of it, let me know.

Misty Day One

This is a 5x7 acrylic on paper. I am enjoying acrylics. I am learning about the unique qualities of this medium - and I must admit that it is very versatile. I like to work quickly and that's good because acrylic dries quickly! Hope you like it. I am going to do more of these subdued color abstract landscapes.

Red Falls

I posted this today on the Daily Painters Marketplace. This is an acrylic painting on paper. It's a 4x4. That's a great deal don't you think!  I have always loved abstracts. When I was 15 or 16 I entered our local county fair and won an award for my abstract painting. I was in the adult division because they didn't have an abstract division for juniors! I was so proud of my accomplishment. My mom encouraged me to enter. She is a big fan of abstracts! Thanks Mom!
