About Me

Murrieta, CA, United States
Hi! Welcome to my blog. I am a mixed media artist who lives in Murrieta, California. I work in acrylics, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and other water and drawing media. My main subjects are abstracts, abstract landscapes, florals and gardens, equine abstracts and pet portraits. I love to use color! I try to incorporate the three C's in all of my work - color, contrast and composition! Most of these paintings are for sale. Please check with me for availability and prices if not posted. Canyon in Spring, collage on paper by Carol Engles

17 x 23 mixed media collage on paper. I had fun doing this piece, but it was also hard. I had to decide how much texture to add and at the same time make sure there was enough contrast. Hope you like it! To purchase, contact me at:

Irish Cottage, large, painting by Carol Engles

16 x 22 water media and oil pastel on paper. Keeping with an Irish theme!  I did this painting several years  ago. I have had requests for larger Irish cottage paintings, so I thought I better do some more! So this coming week I will be starting on them. This one is available, too. $400 plus free U.S. shipping. Pony at Play, gestural charcoal drawing by Carol Engles

16 x 22 charcoal on paper. I have to do these quickly to keep it loose, flowing and simple - a gestural drawing. You don't worry about every detail or perfection. You just do it! Tricky to do though, because you still cannot make obvious mistakes. Hope you like it!

California Poppy Field, One, abstract landscape by Carol Engles

17 x 23 watercolor and pastel on paper. I cannot believe I have not done a California poppy painting! They are everywhere this year. Thankfully, we have had  rain this winter and the poppies are obviously celebrating! Hope you like this painting. To purchase, contact me at:
